Hello!
This is a pic of the area we are looking at church planting in. Porticos is a working class neighbourhood in Southwest Tijuana, Baja California, Mexico. Tijuana is one of the fastest growing cities in Mexico. Because of it's proximity to the border with California, Tijuana is filled with maquiladoras (assembly plants). These provide jobs (average wage about $1.00/ hour) for people, espescially from southern Mexico, who have had little chance at work.
Tijuana is a city of 2million+ and porticos is one portion of the city that is brand new with about 200,000 people in it, with no evangelical witness.
Grace Children's Home
Porticos, Tijuana.
Home to 23 children- vision for places for 40.
Church plant will work in conjunction with the Children's Home in the same neighbourhood.
Sharlene hopes to be working with the children's home in whatever capacity is needed. This home is actually 2 ( soon to be 4) buildings with a family-style atmosphere. They take care of kids who previously lived in abusive situations or on the streets of Tijuana. The Porticos church plant will have a building on the same property ( or close by) as the children's home and work hand in hand with them blessing the community with God's goodness, for His Glory.

Speaking: We have speaking engagements throughout May - but are free for your church, Bible Study, Youth groups, Sunday schools for anytime in June.
Moving??
- The plan right now, Lord Willing, is to move to Tijuana in August to begin language training. We are hoping to live with a Mexican family and hire tutors to engage in an immersion-teaching type language learning. Mike would likely come back once or twice in the first 6 months to continue sharing the vision for planting churches in Mexico and training Godly leaders to serve those churches.

4. For the church in Tijuana- espescially Pastor Martin Castro (with whom I'll be working) for wisdom, strength and health.
5. For Men and Women who are fully devoted to Jesus- to work with them in helping them be servant leaders...
